The Physiology and behavior of supposed sea monsters matches pinnipeds better then a reptile as well. Examination of the plesiosaurs skeletal structure recently showed that plesiosaur couldn't lift its head up out of the water, while pinnipeds can. Old documents from when ships still used sails seem to describe sea serpents as being inquisitive and cautious when moving around ships.
Most of the time, sea serpents are described as moving with a vertical undulation, another characteristic of Pinnipeds.

Sounds pretty logical to me. I try and stay on top of the crypto world and that makes more sense the most theories I've read. Plus we've explored about 3.5% percent of our worlds oceans and know life can exist where we once thought it impossible. So why not? I wouldn't be surprised if it turned out to be true.
