It's better than the League of Nations atleast... but then again, anything is more useful than the League of Nations. The UN is good in theory, like Communism, but the problem is that unless all countires decide to acxt upon it, it isn't going to be enforced and thus it won't work. In order for things like humanitarian laws and int'l peacekeeping to work, everyone has to contribute, but seeing as how mainly the greedy have a real say in how the world runs, I don't see that happening.

And putting sanctions on other countries does nothing but hurt the people of those countries not the governments.

i've noticed as i debate politics elsewhere that the UN seems to only be a good thing when they're going along with the US' bidding... when they're saying the US is out of line in its actions, suddenly they have no relevance and are useless... according to the ardent US supporters, anyways...
