The fact that they had a plan to divide Poland between them suggests an alliance in my opinion.

Things didn't really work out well, though, as (with the end of WWII) we have the Cold War straight after which was shitful of proxy wars like 'nam and Korea, the constant threat of nuclear war for some 45 years and a general era of ignorance which still carries on today.
