what's your take on life? forget morals and religion, this is a thread for critical thinking, what is it that YOU (and not your religion, though you may base it on a religion...) think about humanity? what is human nature? and now the million dollar question what exactly defines humanity?
i will post my take on life, later.... now, DEBATE!!

Uh, were idiots. We don't deserve the right to call ourselves smart. We've nearly depleted the earths resources, kill countless species, kill ourselves, and care more about finding other life than we care about saving the mudball we live on. If their is a God, or other great being, why the hell hasn't he stopped us yet? Is this what he wants? For His children, His creation's, to destroy the planet He made? This is why I hate it when people say things like, amen, or halleluya(sp?). What the hell is their to halleluya or amen about? Were going to fuckin' drown in the melting water of the polar ice caps because we can't think of another way to move are fat asses around without fuckin' up re ecosystem.
So, their you have it. Sorry about the sware words. I entered a bit of a rant mode.

A higher being Did create the universe Billions of years ago, and left the universe to its own design. When Life emerged, it would sometimes be necessary to step in to make sure things go smoothly for any intelligent species who screws up. (some examples on this planet are Jesus, Buddha, And Quetzalcoatl) But Usually, It kept its distance, and just sat back ant watched.
The Sentients of This Planet aren't that sentient right now...
They Walk opan this Mudball as SB well described it, thinking themselves so superior, when they're not. But, in a way, they are. Humans are a species with great potential, and, are in fact, capable of doing nearly anything, but most can't. Humanity has reached that point every sentient species will or has come to in which they will either destroy themselves, or find a new way to survive in a way that they can be allowed to call themselves superior. But It wont be here to Guide us this time, we must find the way on our own, to prove that we can bring our species to its fullest potential, or Die Trying.

and now for the epotome of pessimism....
the way i see it, is that mankind is inherrently corrupt, malevolent and destructive, yet at the same time it has plenty of potential of being a force of good... we have such potential, yet we openly choose to shove it all down the drain for bits of coloured cloth, causes that aren't even our own and even at the most extreme prove to be more self-destructive and hellbent on taking our surroundings with us, largley nothing has changed since the tribal conflictss of our ancestors... infact, if we ever get over forcing eachother's beliefs and cultures on eachother, we might actually be able to repair the damage done to the world the gods gave us to take care of, and in turn help our fellow man in need... infact 10,000 people in africa die per day of disease, hunger and violence, those are 10,000 daily deaths that are preventable, right now... yet we don't do a damn thing about it, simply because expect to make a profit in our investments, christian charities, take a full 90% of everything donated and keep it for itself, tell me... who here thinks that's fair? and further more, who'll use the no true scotsman argument to try and refute it? the gods gave us this universe, this planet for a reason... isn't it about time we stop with the self-destruction of our own kind? we seem to be too pre-occupied with attempted self-extinction to appreciate life as it is...

Amazingly put brother, amazing.
This is also what my mom continues to ask me: Why is it that were willing to spend millions of dollars to send a guy into space, when, like you said Phantom, their are people starving and dieing left and right? What the hells the matter with us?

That's what happens when the well-being of indiviuals is more important than the well-being of society. We have the power to change ourselves and our current predicament, but not the willpower.

more like why it hasn't happened in actuality yet, what happened in russia was totalitarianism, same in china, there has never been a true communist state, ever... it always gets watered down to a form that makes Karl Marx roll in his grave for the sake of the gods...

I STILL want to become a Cryptozoologist, technically, there's no such thing as one. There's no college or degree you can get for Cryptozoology, most people just study zoology in College, and write books later on, which is what I was thinking about doing before... but now, me and my friend who I don't get to talk to much, are planning on trying to create an offical degree for it, and if that doesn't work... I'll become a guitarist.
(I know this was about our personal philosophy, but Bengl said that it's possible for us to do a lot, if not everything, so that made me think about cryptozoology)
