OK, so my friends and I made up our own set of holidays to make the school year pass by quicker. Some of these are pretty messed up so I'll explain them as best I can. They only cover January through June because that's part of our school year, and we'll come up with the holidays for the other half later so I'll post them then. And just in case the days fall on a weekend, it will be adjusted so as to land on a school day. I just felt the need to share these with the general public.
January 11 - Mr. Harvey Day. This is a holiday in honor of our 8th grade social studies teacher who used to sit on an empty desk in the front of the class with his legs spread wide open. The day consists of sitting with your legs spread wide open, prompting people to ask you wtf you are doing.
January 25 - False Accusation Day. This is a day when you falsely accuse people of things they didn't do/cause. Pretty self explanatory.
February 5-9 (or 2nd week in February) - Funny Accent Week. This is a day when we have a different funny accent for every day. There is a council every June to figure out what accents will be used the upcoming year.
February 15 - Bad Pick Up Line Day. This is a day when you have multiple bad pick up lines written on pieces of paper in your pocket. Every now and again during the day you pull one of the papers out of your pocket and read what's on it. The fact that you are reading it off a piece of paper makes you less likely to be slapped. It's the day after Valentine's Day because that way you don't completely f*** up any Valentines Day plans you may have (until the day after, at least).
February 28 - Appreciate a Missourian For Once Day. This is a day that I made up because I'm originally from Missouri, now living in Massachusetts. Nobody gives me any respect because I'm from an "inferior" state even though Missouri is way better in many ways. My home town is the home of sliced bread for crying out loud! Needless to say, I'm the only one that observes this holiday.
March 6 - Sexual Harassment Day. Before you get weirded out, lemme explain. Last year we had to take health class, one of the dumbest classes ever. One of the videos we had to watch was on sexual harassment, and one of the examples given was this coach pulling aside one of the kids on the basketball team, putting his hand on the kid's shoulder, and saying "You know, Johnny, the position of team captain is still open, and I just want you to know...I can help you." So the day consists of us putting our hands on people's shoulders and saying "I can help you." Nothing too gross/illegal really.
March 30 - Duel Challenging Day. We challenge each other to duels at random points of the day... not much to say about that.
April 26 - Flashback Day. At random points during the day, people just have annoying flashbacks... again, not much to say about that.
May 15 - Jump Around Day. One of my history teachers was in the music video for House of Pain's Jump Around, a great song. One of the extremely few rap songs I like. So we just listen to Jump Around, do some jumping around, and recognize the fact that our history teacher was in the music video.
May 18 - Bushkiebob Appreciation Day. My friend's cat is named Bushkiebob and is probably the coolest animal on the face of the Earth. This is a day where we formally recognize that fact.
June 6 - National Funny Accent Week Council. Day where we decide what funny accents to attempt the following year.
So yeah, those are our holidays for January through June. We'll do the ones for August/September through December later, and I'll try to remember to post them then. So yeah, sorry for wasting your time with that.
